Fastway Couriers South Africa warned on 8 Oct 2026 that fake courier emails are being used alongside SMS messages to demand unexpected customs, delivery or other fees.
Fraudsters impersonate courier brands by email, often from generic or unrelated domains, and claim a parcel is blocked until a fee is paid. The emails link to convincing fake payment or tracking pages designed to collect card, banking or personal data.
Different pages, same playbook — matched by what they do, not just the brand.
Fastway warns that scammers target people selling items online: an interested buyer sends a fake delivery/payment-status process, sometimes showing that money was received, to trick the seller.
