eNCA reported on 9 October 2026 that traffickers and scammers are using digital recruitment and too-good-to-be-true job offers in South Africa, including promises of lucrative salaries and covered expenses, then taking control of registration processes and applicants’ documents.
Scammers recruit victims online with attractive job offers, high salaries or paid expenses, then control the application/registration process and collect documents and personal information, creating risk of identity misuse, exploitation or trafficking.
